They already have.

I've played Tiberian Dawn (the original) and Sun with OpenRA, as well as Dune 2000, and a ton of other strange mods. There is an OpenRA C+C Generals mod, I was involved in the making of a mod called "Shattered Paradise", which is like Tiberian Sun + Scrin and Cyborg factions.

They've cracked it man, it's all there for you on OpenRA website. Here's Shattered Paradise: https://www.moddb.com/mods/shattered-paradise

You take a look at that footage and tell me that doesn't look like a fun new take that keeps the core spirit of the game. That's what's so great about all these OpenRA mods: They all feel like the game they're trying to represent, but with a great UI update and interesting new mechanics that don't go over-the-top. This is how you make sequels, not the way EA does.

The game engine features to support Tiberian Sun are still in development. The mod is not included with the OpenRA installer, but the source code is available in our GitHub repository. Please note that we do not provide support for incomplete development builds.

Any tips on how or what to download to get TS working on my iMac? I haven't used github before. Have downloaded and played TD, and the cabal crushed me. lol

No idea, I'm only a little familiar with Apple phones. Only used Mac computers back when I was a kid in school.
