Don't know about the king part as in the original game he's like a 5'7" thin manlet. I think in the remake he's a bit taller, but not by much. Also when I was playing the demo of the remake my wife thought he was a girl until he started talking lol
Now that I think about it, has there been any Japanese RPG in the past 2 decades where the protagonist is a gigachad? For the most part they seem to be effeminate.
