I’ve always had a soft spot for farming sim games, specifically from the Harvest Moon series.

Looks like Marvelous will be releasing two games this year which’ll scratch that itch. If you never played a Rune Factory game before, just imagine farming mixed with dungeon raiding and life sim.

Here’s that second game I mentioned:

I will warn you that Pioneers of Olive Town is looking to play more like some crappy phone game, with bad FPS during holidays and whatnot.

Best news for last: both have a pretty good chance of coming to PC, so keep an eye out for ports around 2022.

I sincerely hope this takes off and gets the recognition it deserves in the West. I understand where you’re coming from in terms of the game trying to accomplish tons of things at once, but it’s that sort of thing that adds to its charm, imho.

Sort of like the Elder Scrolls series trying to have the best magic, the best combat, the best writing, the best player autonomy, etc. only to end up just being OK all around.

As good as the game is I hope it does not take off in the west because that is often when it gets co-opted. The series has a good amount of charm and personality in it, it would be a shame if that was lobotomized.
