I remember playing Everquest back in the day and Fighting other Characters. EQ was awesome and the new MMOs or MOBAs don't have the same factors. EQ you could meet up with higher ranking players and they could give you buffs like Spirit of Wolf and cool jewelry or enchanted clothes. You could get good and master a certain craft even give the illusion that you are a separate faction and go into enemy territory as you morph and what not. If you died you had so long to recover your corpse at whatever coordinates it was at whether at the bottom of a lake or somehow in a tree before time ran out. You could even challenge or be challenged to a duel from another player higher or lower while everyone else got to watch so they could challenge the bully later wherever usually in town by the merchants though. No other MMOs or MOBAs have captured the same experience but I must say I never played WoW. Wish more games were more like EQ back in the day but sadly as they look great and all the story line and plots as well as the gameplay and abilities is repetitive and gets lame and boring after a while. Smite is my favorite MOBA because I forgot how to play LoL and I don't even have it downloaded on my rig anyhow. It's crazy remembering playing EQ on 56k modem and it worked most of the time. Wish they could remaster old EQ and call it EQ Remastered or some shit. I'm not playing WoW though it's already to late in the game for that game for me.

AnonymousLex got it right, the reason these modern MMOs aren't as fun is largely because they removed the social interdependencies from them.

So do I have to install 39GB of this to keep the game for later?

I'm not sure corpse runs are a feature I'd like to bring back. You can still play EQ on private servers.

Just add to the account and install when you feel like it.

I'm not sure about the 39 gigs and yeah EQ has been brought back. I just think it would be great if it was remastered it's a bit dated the way it is now. Everything was more fun when EQ was still the top dog. Might be because I was younger and not so stressed out.

It's not that it's a better game it's just mechanically you are forced to be social to progress which is a better experience. Also keep in mind it was mostly white dudes in the 90s with pcs in the initial wave and the barrier to entry was higher so you had overall higher caliber of people around at all times
