are there more things like this you know of: the shell, for small, cheap, easily procured boards like arduino/raspberry pi? I really like the notion of obtaining the shell and the board separately (then downloading a proprietary bios driver [or better yet official instructions writing {copying/creating} it yourself]).

You're going to find a lot of stuff out there for the Pi Zero, it's a cheap board with a large userbase. I see random other SBCs that have handheld cases, but your best bet is going to be a Pi running RetroPie.

I'm generally on the lookout for stuff like this, I'll make sure to post anything I find in regards to SBCs in a gaming console sense.
