technological innovation

Yeah, the tech in canon (or semi-canon) is pretty stagnant.

Compare the old republic (as seen in KOTOR) and what we see in the movie era and shit is basically the same across millennia. I've even seen it implied that the people in the SW universe don't even fully understand their tech, like hyperdrive.

As far as innovation, there was the TIE Defender, proposed by Thrawn (in Rebels I think), which is a monster both in-universe and on the tabletop. But Palpy killed it in favor of moar fuckhueg ships.

There was a dark age after Knights of the Old Republic. Because the New Sith Wars were so destructive they plunged the galaxy into a dark age for like 10,000 years. In some ways the ancient tech is still arguably better.

True. The New Sith Wars did a shitload of damage.

I'd like to see that dark age/interregnum between the Old Republic and the Galactic Republic covered. But not by Disney.

There are some old comics set in the dark age, never read them, but they are out there. Anyway, Disney Jews are never going to give it up, even if it stops making money completely, destroying the culture is more important.
