My first "online" gaming experience was around that time period. Tic Tac Toe on the school library's computer, which was part of a state-wide library network to find and request books from other libraries. I was a student librarian and had access to this when the head librarian wasn't around.
Here's the kicker: NO MONITOR! Everything was simply printed out on a big tractor feed printer.
I always assume people on the net are between the ages of 16-40. You must be pushing 70. What was your first computer, and do you remember when you first got the internet?
Not quite in that age bracket. Gen X. My fist actual computer was a Sinclair Z-80, which was a kit that required actually soldering the components together. Black and White alphanumeric display. After that I got a fancy full color Commodore VIC-20 , which was the predecessor of the C-64. Had a whopping 16k of RAM as I recall.
Wow, I don't know any of those names. I don't really remember the internet not existing. The idea of having to go to a library and find a book if you wanted to know something is nuts.
