Worst Fallout by far. It's better if its on PC with about 100 mods to make it an actual RPG. I would just play Fallout New Vegas 100x better than 4.

Had high hopes for Fallout 4.. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are so much better.

I wish they would remake NV with a newer engine. It's my favorite fallout, but it's showing its age.

Currently a mod for Fallout 4 is doing just that. No release date though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JanHMbRjNJ8

No good, big mod, for anything, has ever gone 100% complete. I don't know why people bother. Ambitious projects are never possible without the sourcecode and a salary.

It is good until you realize the dialog always comes down to 4 choices of Yes, No, More/Info/Other, and Snark//Mean/Joke. The plot elements are these bland two path splits between two opposed factions and the "dynamic quests" are just repeats of existing content.

If you like RPGs with mild RP and some fun moments its worth the effort but I predict you will get bored of the repeated formula.

The story was not nearly as good as New Vegas. A lot of the conversations are too linear with too few meaningful dialogue options. There are some really repetitive quests that you'll end up ignoring after a while. And building up your settlements doesn't have much of an impact on the game's plot, so while that part of the game is fun and creative and interesting, it doesn't really have much of a purpose.

That said, the game mechanics and engine are fantastic. Settlement building is fun as fuck even if gathering shit for it can be kinda tedious. The expanded crafting system is great. The sandbox part of the game is a lot better than the main storyline. I think if they gave the engine to the people who did New Vegas to bring back the faction system from NV and make taking and defending settlements for your chosen faction and fighting or negotiating with other factions part of the main plot it would be one of the best games ever.

That seems like a fair critique.

One thing I wish this game did, that was in the Witcher 3, is tell you how difficult each quest is supposed to be by having a recommended level. Too often in Fallout I go on what I think will be a simple fetch quest at level 13 that involves fighting a huge Deathclaw boss or whatever that makes me die and lose that much play time.

But overall I like the world of 4 better than I remember liking 3. As someone else mentioned I wish they kept the silent protagonist and had better dialogue options. Maybe they will get better as my charisma levels up.

Once you see through it you will never come back.

Fallout 4 is a flawed masterpiece at EVERY LAST ASPECT OF THE GAME. Meaning that at every turn you see insane potential that didn't quite get there in vanilla. Thank God for mods so you can fix MOST of it's problems. Mind you unmodded vanilla is still worth playing if you just want to explore and shoot stuff, it's just that you'll be constantly disappointed by what they didn't fix or didn't quite get right.

There's a decent video out there showing that, if you wanted to be a true psycho and just immediately kill everyone you come across, the game literally cannot be progressed. So they made it so that literally, no matter what you do, Preston will still stay green, and still help you to get the teleporter built to the institution. You cannot destroy every faction, if you wanted, as the institute would remain unreachable. So the railroad, even if you try to kill everyone in it, is still there to help.

All they needed to do was make it so that you could still get the plans for the teleporter and built it yourself, if you decided to kill everyone, everywhere. But, no.

How it should be done =

Actions should have consequences and players should be free to fuck up and have to start over. Just give them a little reminder as is done here.

I hated it right off the bat when the nukes fell and they made a point to show two lesbians, black and white, running away together.

They took the fifties/sixties aesthetic that they created, and just HAD to inject it with progressive degeneracy.

Story's sucked too. Underground railroad folks were played off to seem like they were fighting racism, so I always destroyed them. Game play was pretty weak too. I also hated the dialogue during conversations. Fallout and elder scrolls were always cool bc they didn't have your npc talk. It made it more immersive. Seeing your character speak every time just reminds you that you're playing a game. Reading it in your head and choosing the dialogue option is much more immersive.

Expect the next games to suck too..Muh diversity in the gaming industry is ruining it. Except Russian games. They still seem to be decent. EFT and Deadside are both fun. Plus stalker 2 is coming out soon and that looks bad ass as well.

I have played Fallout 3 and then New Vegas, really enjoying and getting absorbed in the latter. Starting 4, I couldn’t be too excited because of the lackluster reviews. But I think so far with a few minor niggles it’s very enjoyable.

The dialogue doesn’t seem as good. It’s slightly glitchy. But I am wondering why people thought this was such a letdown.

So long as you ignore the nonsensical story and the lack of actual choices, its pretty fun. The gun play is good and the exploration is good. That's all I really want.

Horrible! Worst Fallout of all time. Pure boring lame-o shit. You like that shit?

I’ve only played 3 and NV before this and so far I would rate them as NV > 4 > 3.

I actually finished my playthrough of it, which is rare. I still haven't finished games I absolutely loved. Maybe 6 out of 10 overall, with mods. It's not great.

It's a top 10 of all time modern game.
Not as good as previous fallouts. But runs well today and still mostly supported. Where the other fallout games run like shit now.

The real fun is when you get to modding it. Anything you want. There's a mod for that. Remove anything. Add anything. Change anything.
