Recently I have been wanting to try LoL after ignoring the game for so many years. Can anyone give me a run down of LoL's worth, and it's history?

Last hitting is tedious and you have to do that for about 10 to 12 minutes at the start of every game. Then a skirmish for objectives like rift herald or dragon break s out and one side starts to snowball.

Sorry I don't understand the terminologies "last hitting, rift herald, dragon breakout, and snowball".

From what I understand that each game duration is around 40 minutes.

Minions spawn infinitely towards the enemy nexus. Two waves have three ranged and three melee minions. The third wave has the 3 and 3 but also a canon minion which has more health, does more damage, and is worth more money.

Regarding money: if you kill or assist in killing an enemy champion you get money. If you kill a jungle monster, you get money. Two of the camps have a large monster that gives you a buff. If you do lethal damage to a minion (last hit) you get money. If you damage an outer turret's armored plates, destroy the tower, or the inhibitor, you get money.

In addition to towers, other objectives (things to kill/destroy) include dragon, which is just that and it gives a soul which increases damage, or health regen, or movement speed, or ultimate ability cool down reduction.

Rift herald is a large shelled creature that when you kill, you can summon for the fast destruction of towers in any of the three lanes.

Since money makes you more powerful when you buy the right items, if you have more than the enemy you face off againat you will be able to do everything faster and generate even more money which makes a feedback loop called a snowball.

Let me try to explain it.

There are two teams. 5 players on a team. Each player gets to pick a 'legend' with a tactical ability and an ultimate.

There is one nearly symmetric map. Your team has a base (Nexus) at one side and the enemy team has their Nexus at the other side. The map has 3 main avenues called "lanes". Minions (NPCs with low damage and low health) spawn at each nexus and follow the lanes to the enemy base.

You get coins for killing enemy minions and enemy players. The coins are spent to make your 'legend' stronger by buying shit at the store (at your home base). The game is over when one a Nexus / base is destroyed.

Its a fun game, but can get really repetitive. It takes awhile to get good at and will be a big time suck. There's a bunch of shit to learn and you need to keep up to date with the new 'meta' all the time. The leagues are ranked and chances are you'll never even get to Gold rank after playing for several months.

Most people who play it end up developing ass cancer.
