"I take it you have minimal or no time in VR"

I played on VR headsets in the 90's. I even played with the Oculus Rift at PAX when it first came out. I saw in person other people get migraines, hurt their eyes or vomit after using it too. It's playing in first person with googles on, that's it.

" It's not a gimmick."

Yeah it is. A gimmick that has existed since the 90's that hasn't taken off yet still keeps getting pushed as "the future" despite it doesn't have the sales to make such a claim. Even motion controls went further than VR ever imagined or achieve.

That seems pretty out of touch. I also tried 90's headsets, which were a gimmick because the tech just wasn't there for them to be effective. The headsets you tried at PAX were probably DK1s, which were dogshit. Almost everyone I know has a headset, and only a few of them still experience nausea, and that's only in certain scenarios now; most people adapt quickly with modern sets.

You saying that VR hasn't taken off doesn't make it true. I'm not going to bother looking up sales data since my anecdotal evidence is more than sufficient; you can check if you wish. Also, the best motion controls these days are part of VR experiences.

That seems pretty out of touch.

Uh how? I've played on multiple modern VR sets on PC and a friends PS4 for nearly a decade now. I've been to trade shows and tried them there too. That's not being "out of touch" that's called being "up to date."

"The headsets you tried at PAX were probably DK1s, which were dogshit."

Worked perfectly fine for me. I'm use to twitch based fast moments. Everyone else clearly wasn't.

"You saying that VR hasn't taken off doesn't make it true."

I'm sure you'll be able to debunk my claim that it hasn't even reached 50% user base across all platforms...

" I'm not going to"

Nevermind, just another VR fag mad that I ain't acting like it's the second coming of Christ.

No, I won't debunk your claim because that's obvious. VR is maybe 2% of PC players, and steadily increasing judging by Steam's hardware data. My main point of contention with you is over the "gimmick" claim. Niche, perhaps; gimmick, certainly not.

A decent analogy/comparison could be the SNK Neo-Geo. It was a hideously expensive home arcade console. It wasn't as popular as the SNES or Genesis for obvious reasons, but it wasn't a failure and it filled its niche. Not a gimmick back then for hardcore arcade purists.
