There aren't even good memes anymore, just the same old templates rehashed over and over. Everything is basically Boomer-tier now. It sucks.

A kindred soul methinks. How I long for the days of old when sites sought beauty instead of minimalism, ad infestations, and setups to prevent archiving and saving as much as possible. Once we had liberty in abundance. I knew dark days were ahead when account walls became a thing. Age and geo walls are the very opposite of what a good internet stands for.

While ultimately a small thing compared to all that the internet has lost and become I lament that the world might never again see the unexpected surprise of a mouse trail that forms bubbles while accompanied with piano music from a random site that put it there to entertain those who arrived for a different reason.

I remember even a couple years memes came and went way faster than I could keep track, and thus I felt like a Boomer. Now its all the same shit over and over, I'm starting to think Fukuyama was right about the end of history.

The memes came forth because the idea of making them became popular. There was a void. People filled it and no longer feel like they need much more. More memes will come when others feel the need again such as when they find a new thing they like. This is the more normal way that happened before the word memes was even a public thing.

That aside you shouldnt expect expression of creativity from a stressed out and hostile population in a censorship and petty outrage obsessed world.
