Admittedly, these consoles can be somewhat troublesome and require a bit of fiddling to make them work right. When they break, they break, you throw it away. Nintendo is going for more of an experience your kids can have without them being unable to do something because you need to find a particular ROM variant or other piece of kit to make the device work.
