5" 720p screen

That sounds nice. I've been considering getting a librem 5 or pinephone so I could have pocket-mobile linux, but maybe this is better? Although, it looks a lot more expensive than a librem 5 for what it offers.

It certainly looks like a nice little machine. I can't afford it, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's neat.

I have their previous model, the OpenPandora and it was a nice little machine. Cool to tinker with but you're going to have to do a lot of your own lifting in terms of getting certain software to work. Mine is in a drawer right now because of a move and I can't repair some damaged shoulder buttons and charge port(just some soldering).

For gaming, it's mostly emulators with and some ports of open source games. It does have a nice, full Linux OS (Arch based if i remember right) built for it specifically and a package manager. Battery life is good and the buttons feel nice. Mouse is either touch screen, or use one of the analog sticks and the shoulder buttons for a cursor. Again, this is just my experience with the OpenPandora, not the Pyra.

FWIW I had fun with it (just gotta fix it atm) and it is a very nice hobbyist machine. The Pyra looks a lot nicer and sharper, looking like they learned some lessons from the OpenPandora. Glad I could support this company and some open source hardware.

I remember the OpenPandora. That was a neat looking machine too, about the same time as the GP32X as I recall.

I have one of those and it's similar - lots of emulators and some homebrew stuff.
