One of the major failings of capitalistic thinking seems to be maximizing profits. Not everyone has to be in a game's (or product's) consumer base. I'd personally rather have a consistently gigantic fan base that will buy my new games every couple of years than having to piss off half of them every 3 months because they don't like my product in some way. If they buy it and then get grumpy, good for me - I still got their money. If they don't buy it and 4 other people do because it's a solid product, still good for me, and I don't compromise my integrity.

edit: These offendratrons that love ugly characters have a new character shooter right up their alley in Bleeding Edge, too. They can always just go play that if OW pisses them off too much.
