My Index headset arrived Friday. The Half-Life Alyx preview content is an amazing environment. Sure it looked cool on YouTube videos, but when I was actually immersed into it, it is a whole new level.

"The Lab" which is pretty much a fun lobby area that lets you access mini-games is a total blast too. The space ship and bow games are so much fun.

I tried Pavlov and seems like it would be fun, but I ended up getting a refund. I could not play it without terrible motion sickness. I'm afraid I might have that problem with games that have you walk vs teleport.

One downside with the Index is the controllers are not wireless. I did not realize this when I bought it. It is still playable of course, but it would be much better if you didn't have to worry about the wires. The headset, which I knew going in was wired, is not an issue. I don't notice that wire at all.

I was hesitant to make such an expensive purchase (figure I spent around 2k upgrading my PC even before the 1k for the Index), but I live very frugal, I have to splurge every once in a while!

I'm not regretting it at all. Highly recommend.

And you can do it cheaper, I just decided if I'm going VR I'm going all in with the top of the line stuff.
