Interesting video, although it's strange to me the main claim/question is 'The European version had the optimization enabled, but not the U.S. version. Did they forget to optimize?' I couldn't find info on the Japanese cart, but the U.S. version appears to have been released 6 months before the European release. That's a lot of time for the developers to assess performance (of a launch title) and look for ways to improve, as discussed in the video. If both Jap and EU releases have the -02 and not U.S. version, I think it's a stronger case that something unintentional/foolish happened with the U.S. code compilation.
