This is fucking tragic. This was hard for me to watch. She's clearly at war in her head with her own motherly instincts. Deep down, she knows what she has to do, she seems to understand how to raise a child...

But something (probably a combination of conditioning and pills) are blocking that instinct and causing this reaction. I also doubt the father is in the picture, because she has a nose ring and just admitted to sitting in her car for a half hour screaming because "parenting is hard". Her father was probably absent or a bitch. This poor girl is a victim, and the sane human still within her is screaming to shake off the bullshit, but she can't. This is BRUTAL, and the worst part- the kid's going to suffer the most because of this woman's inner war. That boy is going to be so confused.

This is why marriage before children is so important. This woman needs a husband to slap her and say "Get your shit together, woman, you have to watch after our son, stop being hysterical and stop cussing around him, or else he's going to grow up to be a hysterical potty-mouth."

I too found it deeply disturbing. That boy is screwed. No chances of a normal upbringing with that unhinged nut job of a mum

You aren't wrong, but i see it as simpler than that... Why is it so hard to not be a piece of shit?

parenting is kinda hard, but not being a piece of shit is a prerequisite to being a functional human, not even an adult, that shouldn't be the hard part.

There's possibly even another layer to this.

Realizing just to what extend her son mirrors her attitude, words, and actions, can make her question why she turned out the way she did. Because she once was a "little mirror", too.

And if indeed she is a mirror image of her caregivers, yet is willing to change for the sake of her son, she will end up questioning why her parents were not willing to change for her sake.
