I had a back-and-forth with a stewardess, omg sorry, flight attendant, on an international flight. I asked her why the flight was one hour shorter to fly TO Sydney than to return FROM Sydney? She said, "because of the wind" I said, so if the wind always goes the same direction, then it's because of the rotation of the earth, right? She said no, it's just the wind. Back and forth a few more times. It was her JOB to fly, and after years doing it, she still hadn't figured out what CAUSED THE WIND to always blow in the same predominant direction. Face palm.
