The original Tarzan movies were great for kids. They used to show them on the weekends. Even then they censored them. But that should tell you how based they were.
Johnny Sheffield Maureen O'Sullivan?
Behind the scenes the monkey frequently got a boner for Tarzan and they constantly had to hide it with scenery, props, and pelts. It would become angry at Maureen as soon as she embraced Johnny. It frequently tried to attack her. If you look closely in many scenes the monkey is chained to keep it from attacking her.
Yea, I vaguely remember the original Tarzan movies and jungle jim series on the weekends when it was still in black and white with Johnny weissmuller (sp??) watching them circa mid/ late 70's and then my Grandmother / Grand father brought a new color tv and the very first thing i ever saw in color was half an episode of Dr Who with Jon Pertwee - mind totally blown (it was a sunday at 5pm - i wanted to stay to finish watching but my Mother said it was time for us all to go home so she could make dinner, lol).
One of the areas where they used to film some of the jungle scenes for the old Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan flicks is now a wild animal santuary down in Port Isabel, Texas, near the Rio Grande river. Kinda "jungly" looking. There's still a house there that was used in the films that's now historical site. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarzan_yell
That's Cool, i dig retaining stuff like that..
