Yep, same here. We had a rotary phone pretty much up to the 90s, and "Call the operator for long distance" up to 1984. Pumpkin Orange GTE Trimline that we got in the 70s had to be returned to GTE, then we had a oh-so-80s brown trimline for the longest time.
I just look at these videos of giving people devices they've never seen before and expecting them to know how they work just eh. It would be like me pulling someone off the street and saying "Here, light this mantle lamp."
