I'm curious. What's your best one?
This might not be the best one, but it's one that sticks in my mind. A machinist was working a drill. The actual drill bit he was using was small. Something happened that broke the bit and a piece went flying into his throat, ripping through one side and cutting his carotid artery. Blood spurted out as it is want to do and he panicked and ran from the shop area to the office area in the building. He bled out shortly after.
The reason this sticks in my mind is because he did that one thing you should never do when you sever an artery, get your heart pumping faster. His running full speed killed him. The shop was full of men who could've helped. If he would've sat down and got help, kept himself calm, there's a good chance the ambulance would've gotten to him and he would've been saved. You have two carotids in your neck, you can stop blood pumping in one and still live. I know most people panic in emergency situations, I just can never understand why. I don't panic, I don't see the point.
Shit. I can see why that stuck with you….
