He’s pounding the pavement for commission only would be my guess. You get to walk around all day soliciting for a business that doesn’t want to pay you. Likely not a great “job” and he would get burned out quickly anyway as soon as you have a week where you’ve had 500 uncomfortable interactions, walked tens of miles and used up all the gas in your car. For nothing.
Sounds like you've done this, before. What exactly is he doing? What is he selling? Why would Duke energy have door to door sales people? Is he just taking a survey? Seems like he may be taking a survey. I'm speaking in ignorance but you seem to know this trade really well. Let me know, I'm curious.
I have two of these guys at my door each week. Selling Solar or some sort of Energy Solution.
