Slightly different given the numerous strands of small gauge wire inside of a USB cable...

Its not literally just one wire.

Also a good quality USB cable will only run about $8. Unless you're buying it a nigger tier store.

The only time you buy a USB cable in a "store" is when you are really hard up. They know that and charge you for it.

Most standard connector types require licensing the connector and certifying the use of it, so companies aren't legally selling cables that fry your device or spontaneously combust

Eh I kinda doubt cheap USB cables are certified to anything. I could be wrong about that.

Same with ethernet cable, you can buy a roll of unterminated cable for a few bucks, and a dozen connectors for a few bucks, but to buy it assembled (say, a 50 foot length) you pay through the nose.
