They also make glass faced Lexan, which is almost bullet proof. Some high end stores are starting to use it.

I worked on the glass at a high end jewelry store. Bulletproof, I'm not sure how to what calibre. But also several layers, and subk about 6 feet into the pavement. To minimize the likelihood of using a vehicle to crash through.

But tempered glass? It's gonna break slightly easier than non tempered, due to the compression.

Gotta be annealed, before it becomes stronger itself
