Decades ago when light beers first started to show up on the market, brewers tried to cut costs with corn syrup and other not-beer ingredients. They ended up with slime in the cans.
Sounds like someone tried to cut costs and failed. Again.
My guess was a shoddy clean in between runs.. Corn syrup makes sense too
I remembered wrong. The corn syrup was used to cheapen the beer, but the cheap stabilizers caused the snot.
