We IS Kangs. Presenting the genius of Lagos.

I didn't watch the video, but it looks like he created a dune buggy with really shitty ground clearance.

[–] 2 pts

Pretty much, also a spoiler and lambo doors.

the cringe here isnt that a local kid built a gocart using parts from a scrapyard. the cringe is that the local news picked up the story because they are so desparate to show that africans are brilliant scientists.

its actually a pretty cool buggy.

The comments are mostly other Africans calling him a genius, a few we had planes and cars before whitey stole them.

Yeah, and the negative arguments have been shadow banned by jew tube.

There are a bunch of those also.

Well, to be clear ... he didn't really build that. He (and/or) the media made up the lie that he built it. That, IMHO, is the most cringe of this all.

This is long winded, but the engineer in me can't leave it be:

Likely he stripped down a chinese built side-by-side and added a bunch of extra tubing.

He -might- have done an engine swap, but I very much doubt it.

Example points:

  • He has a MASSIVE jump in build quality, engineering knowledge, tube forming, welding, etc. between the 'helicopter' and that vehicle.
  • At 5:40 Most of the welds look great. Look like they were done in a chinese factory. But, where he added some front grill, it looks like a drunk 5th grader did the work.
  • At 6:53 Nice combination of (a) factor welds, (b) fugly welds, and (c) chicken wire holding stuff together.
  • At 8:13 Take a look at the welds on the top at The welds for the 4 panel mounting holes look very clean. The welds for the "additions" to the front of the roof are junky.

Very likely:

  • He got a busted up dune buggy.
  • He stripped the paneling (which also was part of the frame support, so now it has no structural integrity)
  • He replaced the tires
  • He welded on some decorative 'art' pieces to make it look cool and added paint.
  • He replaced the carb and got the engine running again (or some other similar minor maintenance).

No disrespect for that, but I really do hate liars. Would still be a cool story without the lie. I love to see people build stuff, no shame in building from kits or doing mods.

ahhh so its more of a "look at the cool clock i built" situation where the kid just took the frame off a real clock

Well, you probably are on something. Really there is some weird stuff there. Also position of winkers are similar to Chinese vehicle. Photo from Chinese factory, mean car without panels will reveal much more about structural similarity. However he maybe re-use some other vehicle. I remember one TV show where 2 teams has 24 hours ( if I remember correctly ) to assemble vehicle from junk. They are on big junkyard and have limited time to scavenge parts and start 'project'. Ok. this are experienced people, with all modern tools, but 24h against months of work. Although I don't disdain his effort, even if he reuse some trashed vehicle. But all this 'we wuz kangz'™ are disgusting. Big companies need years and years to produce vehicle, but our BLACK genius do this in just 10 months, and other bullshit. Without such pathetic, miserable bullshit his achievement will look much better, after all this 'car' run, and don't look like some other Africa masterpiece of engineering.

What in the world are 'winkers'? I've never heard that term.

Just wait until you see their helicopters!

I was under the impression that it was an anti-gravity car.

I want to design and build a revolutionary new laptop, but instead of starting with electronics classes, I plan to start by gluing a 27" TV on top of the screen on my broken laptop. The whole world is starting to adopt this mentality.
