They might call it gyro in Islington, the rest of Britain just calls it a doner kebab, and it's generally up to the owners to make it how they like. We have ten times the number of Turks than Greeks in the UK, so it's more likely they are making the Turkish version, although my local chippy is owned by some greeks

We call it gyro in Illinois too. The pakis make them here.

I like NY Greek lamb gyros. I think it's a similar thing.

Costco has some pretty good gyro meat, I'd trust their quality over some shit skin running a small shop.
