Some browsers support .MOV some don't. If your browser doesn't support it, it tries to download. Most people use browsers that don't support MOV (chromium based, maybe some others). Catbox doesn't change the file format when you upload.
If you don't like explaining this to people, convert to something most browsers play (mp4, webm..).

Thanks for the explanation; I loaded it directly from a link, and had no opportunity to touch the file type. It worked fine on Brave and Firefox, and not having any Google products, I had no idea why it wouldn’t work for others.
As an aside, Brave doesn’t play webm.
