It's the difference between being aware of the manipulation and not. I find it impossible to enjoy movies now unless they are brain-dead apolitical action movies. Last movie I enjoyed was hardcore Henry, filmed in Russia without a single Nog or fag. I saw the matrix trilogy in my early teens, I guess I sensed something off about it because i never rewatched it even though I remember enjoying them for the most part. I can't imagine wanting to go back and invest in it, but I might rewatch the original to see how different it is with my current perspective.
