When I was a kid I had a thought that plants were innocent since they hurt no one, herbivores were like criminals because they murder plants, and carnivores are like cops, because they go after the herbivores. Omnivores are then crooked cops.

That's as far as my insight went.

I killed a couple squirrels once. It was during my survival training. Here is my story:

On the 2nd day of creeping through the brush, being very sneaky, a zipper on my survival vest must have caught on a branch or something because all my food was gone. The pocket was open. My instructors response was “it sucks to be you!” I went hungry and it was painful, until I saw a tree branch. There where squirrels scampering up and down that branch. Light bulb went off in my hungry head. I grabbed a roll of wire I had in one of my unopened pockets and rigged two snares on that branch. Sat behind a tree for an hour came back to find two very fat squirrels hanging from my snares. Joy joy happy happy! I took them back to our camp, instructor took one for the rest to sample and let me eat the other (survival training) that squirrel was delicious and I had no remorse killing it. I’d do it again, but I wasn’t ready to ‘brain’ the rabbit that the instructor brought along just in case we didn’t catch anything. The psychopath that volunteered to kill it botched it, and yes, rabbits do scream. I cannot forget it, I try.

Damn, but that's funny. Bust out laughing funny. Only happens once in a blue moon but that's a good 'un.
