Yep hitting macros is exactly why I tried it in the first place. Used to choke down bowls of salted egg whites, plain oatmeal, tuna straight out of the can. All kinds of terrible shit for the macros.
Yep I had the big can of steel cut oats! That was my lunch oatmeal at 11am and yogurt at 1pm. If I got too hungry I was munching on sunflower seeds.
I still fuck with the steel cut oats though. These days I add a little butter, a dash of whole milk and a pinch of brown sugar. Supposedly oatmeal lowers your cholesterol but who knows. I remember seeing something that said it also leeches heavy metals out of the body so I eat it just in case it's doing any of that stuff.
Oatmeal has been a staple of mine since I was a kid. But I don't really pay attention to the supposed extra health benefits because all kinds of stuff is constantly getting invented. For example I wasted money on fish oil for years because it was supposed to be some miracle and now it's common knowledge it was just more snake oil.
