Easier to do now. The entire SW thing has been beaten to death and anything of value was drained from it long ago. But back in 1977 (in the Before Time, In the Long Long Ago) when I was in HS it was like this huge cultural phenomenon that was happening. The original SW was something entirely new and never seen before. It was this sweeping heroic epic that ran on the same screens for months. You'd go to the theatre with a couple friends on a Saturday, and look around and everybody you knew was there. People would brag about the number of times they'd seen it. And a Saturday matinee ticket was like a buck, so why not.
