I don't know what the people who put this on think they are achieving. I suppose it gives some people a laugh. When you think about it, it's really no different than events with one-legged runners, or wheelchair basketball. Cripples and sports don't go together. Neither do spastics and sports. Sports are displays of physical excellence.

This is a great example of what's wrong with the west. Boomers bending over backwards to pretend reality is different than it is.

Could be interesting if betting was allowed

A handicap race in horse racing is a race in which horses carry different weights, allocated by the handicapper. A better horse will carry a heavier weight, to give it a disadvantage when racing against slower horses. The skill in betting on a handicap race lies in predicting which horse can overcome its handicap.
