it's actually hard to get a non rgb mechanical these days lol

[–] 2 pts

Tons of mechanical keyboards that just light up, which is useful. Rainbow RGB shit is just for fags.

[–] 2 pts

I just keep mine at a low-level single-color mode.

I know, and it's annoying as hell. I want to get a non-programmable basic bitch mechanical for work, because it's a really locked down environment, and last I looked couldn't find any. So I'm stuck with the OEM Dell membrane keys.

I was in a similar situation when I was still in the office. They were uptight about bringing stuff from home so I had to get something that blended in. But I was sick of going to work and using a shitty membrane keyboard. I got a ikbc 108 series. A couple years ago it was one of the cheapest mechanical keyboards on the market that used genuine MX cherry switches. ~$60. I got browns for more stealth. It's just a solid normal looking keyboard that served me well in the office. Now that I'm full time WFH I use it as a backup.

Ducky if you want to pay a bit more. Or find a used steelseries 6gv2, I use one, very no-frills, no lights or macro buttons, well built, cherry black switches. They're under $50 used.

You don't even want one that you can turn off? You can always buy a used Ducky or Das Keyboard.

Das Keyboard 4. They have versions with labels now, rather than the blank keys of the original Das.

Most of the best ones are non-RGB, like Ducky etc. It's only the gaming stuff which is all RGB and typically worse build quality overall. I have an old steelseries 6gv2 from about 8 years ago that has no RGB and is built like a tank, feels like a throwback before "gaming gear" became shoving LEDs on cheap plastic crap.

Dollar store and it's the quietest keyboard I've ever used. Also got one for $20 at walmart that is wireless and totally without clicking. Cheap offline is the only way to buy keyboards, the rest of them are totally gay and the rgb if under not through the keys on most and the letting wears off the keys in 3 months normal internet typing use. Worst money I spent on a computer product and there is no protection from crumbs or spills, wide open under the keys no top covering over working components elecronics on the shit one I bought.

I have a rainbow lighted keyboard. A gift from my daughter. And Three monitors.

Input monitor. Emails. Working monitor. IDE. Output monitor.

Sounds like you are a sensible man.

I spend 4 hours every two weeks just organising stuff..

How do normies even?

[–] 1 pt

I organize as I go. Build routines. Then review for optimisation upgrades.

Buying a tractor this week so that I can. Bury my own ofal. Cut my own hedges. Cut my own paddocks. Split my own wood.

Trying to get more and more away from my pc

I feel the three monitor bit. When Windows 10 is no longer supported, I am going with the Temple OS fork and my old CRT.

Imagine being turned off by a man not being a cheap-ass.

LOL a fucking chink got roasted by a ginger. The shame.

They're more often than not an indicator that a guy is boring and childish. The only evidence I have is anecdotal so take it or leave it.

Dual monitors rock. One for videos and one for work.

So in the home workers tech field that would be the porn and the not porn video chat but never mix them up.

I use mine at work usually split four ways. From left to right, left monitor has email and either YouTube or some documentation on the other side. Right monitor either has two terminal windows open or a terminal and one of either solitaire or Minesweeper.

Oh email the check it every month whether your expecting something or not. I remember going a year without checking email I was so sick of spam. Man was that angelfire email full as fuck. Also not one thing that was important or not spam. was one good thing, got a free homepage with the email. Never put the page up but the images I uploaded and they were like fire.txt and cartman.txt. The thing is I needed a place to send images to the forum I was modding and angelfire would not allow hot linking images but they did allow linking to txt files. That was one way in 97 to get your officer cartman gif to have the lights flash in your sig on the forum.

Hiring in the 21st century is tough if you're going to have remote workers.

First question should be if they work off a laptop or how many monitors they have. If they have no monitors then automatic rejection.

You gotta be kidding me if you think any remote office work can get done reasonably with anything less than 2 monitors.

Only a fag without a 42" led uhd tv and a nvidia 4gb card would need 3 monitors and a laptop. Those people are kind of compensating for something in their lives. Likely it's that atom processor they've been using for the past 5 yrs. Hell if the person that is remote working cannot follow IT instructions as in actually looking to see if it's plugged in when told to they need to go back to their old mcjob instead.

The monitor instead of the laptop screen. , not in addition to.

Laptops were meant to be portable.

Workstations were meant to work

You would never ask a pilot to operate with a welders shield over his eyes.

Its not the visual workspace that counts. Its the ability to multitask without shuffling multiple applications.

Since you obviously are not employed in the corporate world that regularly juggles an erp system, email, excel, attachments, accounting, and other browser tabs, etc --- then this is something you know nothing about.

This means you speak without knowledge.

And precisely my point.

Your interview is over, kid

you use linux and a huge monitor and virtual desktops then you realize unless you're gaming on one screen you can make 6 desktops on for each of the things you listed. I hate 64gb ddr4 and I would just jump from desktop to desktop. Heck keep it all up and even compile a program while checking email. Multiple monitors in this age are less needed than 10 years ago and you can do all those things with a multicore processor and a large led tv. You can even do zoom calls on one virtual desktop while doing 6 other things out of site but running non the less. Unless windows has gotten even shittier than 5 years ago when I formatted over it then I see no reason for more than one large tv screen unless it's running an art type program like photoshop when you need the extra definition an actual monitor can provide you. Also started on windows 3.11wfw played spear of destiny, duke nukem in dos which was amazing on 1/2 mb of ram and went directly from winxp pro to windows 10 on a Dell and it was like how did they fuck up windows so totally, this is shit. So not a kid and almost 60 btw so that was not correct. I just have an open view and think unnecessary extra hardware is foolish since you need extra graphics cards and then a bigger PS to power that and then you have a heat buildup to cover unless your watercooled. Not business but my old system was side off and 20 inch box fan right up against it while chain smoking and doing bowls. Before that was my own porn image sight using an apache beta on a garbage windows 98se machine using irfanview for the page thumbnail creation and running on a home slow internet connection, that crapped out since my HD was hot enough to fry and egg with the fan blowing on it directly and my crappy processor 1.2 ghz pentium 4 was not able to do a damn things beside send images online constantly to horny guys that I sent the IP to one the IRC room we hung out on. Not young and done some shit but no school or other training just self taught but no skill at all for programing.
