Blacks in the USA claim to be slaves today, and they will rewrite the history books to say they were slaves in the 20th and 21st centuries if we let them.
Benevolent protestant organizations paid for ships to buy blacks out of slavery in Africa to bring them to a new life in North America. They were given the same terms many of the crews of the ships were given: Work off the repayment of your debts and the cost of your passage with a 7 year indenture. The blacks refused to do it, so they were offered 5 years. Some of the blacks still refused to work (just like they do today) so they were reluctantly made slaves.
