I'm going to give you an answer you will not like, but its an answer as to why belief in God still exists and will never stop existing... the answer to your question is "I don't know." What you say here about the commandments makes complete logical sense, but much like many other logic based questions... the answer you will get from someone who truly undrstands their religious doctrine is that God does not operate on the same level of logic that we do. He is above us. He computes at a higher level than we can understand.
Before you shut me down with more logic, allow me to provide an analogy to illustrate my point. I dont know of you own a pet but let's say you have a dog. One day you sit your dog down next to you and decide to explain to him the economics and logistics behind how he gets food in his doggy dish. You explain it all in detail from the animal that is slaughtered to the remains of it being ground up, baked into small pieces and expunged into bags on a conveyor belt all handled by a factory with hundreds of people hired to check safety and FDA approvals, etc to have conglomerate markets purchase large bulk orders for distribution and selling to neighborhoods all across the nation so that you can go to the store and buy the bag with money you've earned from your job, then taking it home and pouring it into his doggy dish. Let me ask you a question: How well do you think your dog would process this information?
Now let's take this a step further. Lets say you tell your dog that you are going to quiz him a week from now on the information you just gave him. How do you think your dog will perform on this quiz?
So whats my point? Your dog isn't dumb. He's just a dog and his brain just operates at lower level than yours. It's the same thing with God. His brain (if he has one?) Operates at a higher level than our own. This means that if God one day decided to reveal himself to you and give you the exact answers to life... you wouldn't be able understand or comprehend it. Not because you aren't intelligent but simply because God operates at a higher level of logic than you do and so you wouldn't be able to grasp it, even if he explained it clearly to you 100 times.
Again this could all be ludicrous to you and that's ok. Im just giving you an answer as to why people will always believe in God. Because in the same way a dog loves a human despite its limited mental capacity and that genuine love is reciprocated, there are humans who love God and believe that love is reciprocated. That is what faith means after-all, to believe outside of our human understanding of logic.
Why would God set up a reality in this way? I don't know. You either believe it or you don't. Its your choice.
