Well let's be honest, jew store owners went to open floor self-service so that they could provide less personal customer service and push more of the store's work off onto the customers. And now they even have us checking out our own groceries, and pumping our own gas (everywhere but Oregon unless we're crippled). Hell, the kikes are trying to do away with brick&mortar stores entirely, they want us all buying online using our Mark of the Beast numbers to pay.

Anyhow, the main motivation for that service model was security, and it works reasonably well in a small store with limited merchandise. In a larger market with fixed prices it doesn't make a lot of sense. Personally I'm happier without it, I also prefer scanning my own groceries.

Couldn't find much on Shanks Phillips Co. Afaik open floor shopping was innovated by saunders.
