There was some guy, Mr. Wizard? or something in the past. When the kids on the show would fuck up, he spent no time admonishing them for their stupidity. He was great!

He would pull off dangerous experiments with kids that might inflict chemical burns on a student and say, "Carlos, I just explained exothermic reactions. What did you think was going to happen? That's why we always wear safety glasses"
Yeah, that is the guy! He was absolutely awesome!

E2: 1950s was even better when you could get your own chemistry kit with some Uranium-235. Even better times.
