Sounds like Mr. Wizard

He would pull off dangerous experiments with kids that might inflict chemical burns on a student and say, "Carlos, I just explained exothermic reactions. What did you think was going to happen? That's why we always wear safety glasses"

Yeah, that is the guy! He was absolutely awesome!

E: I so loved the "dangerous 70s and 80s."

E2: 1950s was even better when you could get your own chemistry kit with some Uranium-235. Even better times.

Chemistry Set was what I asked for and Chemistry Set I got

No word of a lie, I was doing experiments and my Dad was reloading brass in the shed

We had fun weekends "going blasting"

Nice! That's awesome!

E: That reminds me when I found a silly archery arrow in the grass. Because I found it, my dad and I made a bow out of a heavy branch. My dad was so excited with the bow we made together, he just fired the arrow willy-nilly. It went straight through my parents' above ground pool. LOL.

E2: And my dad was intelligent, not like the moron I just made him out to be.
