I'm not a psych but I think that it's an extreme form of depersonalization that allows them to be uninhibited enough to, ya know, have sex with a woman. Most folks like to have a glass or wine or two before getting freaky, to get over the mental hump of being naked with a stranger, but imagine if you needed your whole identity erased and replaced with something non-human so you can't even accidentally identify as yourself. It's fucking twisted.
But ... how would one be able to prove what is or isnt a woman in furry parties? Sure one could dress as a woman, but actually be a homo looking for anal.
You're looking at it from a sane perspective. I don't think it matters at that point, they've erased their humanity so they can satisfy a biological drive, it's purely mechanical from there.

From an evo-psych perspective there's something to be said for conquering a woman, but once you do it she should have your children and you should protect what you've conquered. Of course, that's completely fucked up and reversed in modern society. The conquest is the goal instead of a means to an end. So I think you're right, drugs and alcohol take away that empty feeling of giving up what you conquered.
