Now hold on there! I owned an appliance repair business for a decade and I can attest to how solid the appliances were in the 1960's and 1970's. The newer ones are all computerized junk and Samsung is by far the worst brand. Back then, they were machines, real machines, built by companies familiar with building solid, heavy gauge steel devices.
At my house, I had 1970 Maytags for 15 years that never failed, then gifted them to my poor neighbors who were still using them a decade later.
