Yeah, they were doing weird research back then on breaking peoples will so jihadis would have stuff like Barney the dinosaur's song on a loop. Its like velvet round the mailed fist in terms of control. They seem to want us pacified/demoralized rather than riled up. A load of Trumptards in one spot wanting to MAGA need bringing down gently so they play this baffling cringe inducing song. Watch the rallies. People just mill around looking lost at the end as the song plays, slowly dispersing. Good book anyway, there is a George Clooney film of it but I've not seen it so cant recommend it as doing the book justice

I remember watching the rallies, the music playing and the migapedes milling and memories of the book came back. I thought weird, its like they are running a psy-op on the pedes.

But it made sense to me because I think Trump and MAGA was just selling the public snake oil while everything in reality got swampier so I have a bias. I like to think my bias was formed by facts but I am still more inclined than a Trump supporter to see him as malevolent and insidious with his charisma rather than honestly intentioned but mis-steppng
