This fuckwit has no business whatsoever being any sort of authority on a language when he's not a native speaker of it.

This sort of shit is fucking rampant online. I know this because I was unfortunate enough to stumble across a language learning community online whilst in the process of learning my husband's native language (I went on a search for beginner-level resources so that I could get the basics before I started having conversations with him). You had clowns who weren't native speakers, attempting to be some sort of authority on the languages they professed to learn. One of them that I encountered ended up being an American tranny - and any defiance to his (it was a guy pretending to be a girl) utter clownery ended up with people being banned from the community without warning. I actually felt sorry for anyone who was there to genuinely learn, because they'd get nowhere with that fuckwittery.

There’s no such thing as a native speaker of Scots because Scots is not a language. I only speak English yet I can read Irvine Welsh books with ease. Am I now bilingual? Scots is retarded and deserves to be mocked by everyone, “native speakers” or otherwise.

With your retarded logic, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic would all be the same language, and they'd be mutually intelligible from English, when clearly they are not, and English is not mutually intelligible with the four either.

Scots is literally just English but spelled to reflect Scottish peoples accents with a few slang terms thrown in. So the “Scots” word for football is fitbaw, because that’s how they pronounce it. There is no etymology for the word fitbaw beyond the English etymology with a footnote stating this is how it’s pronounced in Scotland. If the Irish dropped every h from every “th” in English words because we struggle to pronounce it properly would we have created a new language? Of course not, and that’s all Scots is.

Bullshit. If the scots speakers cared they could've written them.

They attempted to, and this clown deleted the edits - which is the whole point of the post.

ran into that issue myself, spent a couple hundred hours learning another language for my wife. Which really messed me up as it turned out most words, phrases and structures were completely wrong. This was Pimsleur which is supposed to be trusted was also in groups that used it and no one around to correct it.

Wife thought i was being lazy and rude until i had her actually listen to the lessons. I can speak the lessons and phrases i learned but with having an accident and head injury it's ruined any retraining. Can't focus on that or other things anymore.

Pimsleur is something that can be mediocre at best or absolute garbage at worst. I heard that one of the languages they offer, the course itself is mostly aimed at middle aged men trying to pick up women.

DM me what language you're learning, I can probably give you a bunch of resources for the language if it's not a super rare one, if you want. You won't have to necessarily use them now, but it'd be handy to have them at least for later on. Your wife would be able to independently verify them.

That one might be Japanese. I was listening and it starts of with the normal shit, parks, water, where's the bathroom etc. Then it gets into beer, sake, bar, hotel, your place or my place, and suddenly I realized it. Made me laugh.

The trick to learning of course is to not just use one source. And to learn through several methods such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Been learning Japanese online and yeah, this shit is fucking everywhere. These dipshits learn some hiragana/katakana, a couple of basic phrases, and suddenly they start writing about how ableist it is to know more than one language or somesuch. And they are in damned near every learning community as well, constantly complaining about gendered language and other jewish propaganda and bullshit.

Yeah, it's fucking infuriating. These faggots set the bar so low on what "fluency" in a language is, that it shits on anyone who takes the time to learn a language to a decent level.

Reminds me of a story I read on DuoLingo. Some ((community member)) went to take the JPLT. Turns out, they only used DuoLingo to learn.

Obviously they failed. Yet somehow it wasn't their fault at all. Somehow it was DuoLingo's fault or something. And there were so many responses by the usual reddit-tier midwits offering support. You can always tell them by the number of languages they have on their bar next to the name.

Don't get me wrong, DL is great for practicing in an interactive way. It helps bolster your other learning methods. But you can't rely on just one method. You have to use them all. Daily.
