while the concept of a grand solar minimum will only be proven if it actually happens at this point, your comment makes the general point that we are indeed in a solar minimum...and during this period of activity Texas has historically shown the result of having an even similar to this...1989, around 2000 (I forget the exact year, but do clearly remember some asshole deciding it would be a grand idea to turn on his garden hose and wash down the street to create an ice slide for his kids...that of course resulted in the street being impassable until things thawed), 2011, and now in 2021 point being this is just another things the powers that be didn't take into account when shutting down natural gas well heads, not winterizing sufficiently, and not even making real plans for preparedness with a known huge storm bearing down on us with plenty of advance notice
