How did the courts justify giving them your house?

Even Two and a Half Men explained that the only reason the ex got the man's house was because the man was a simp and his lawyer actively sabotaged the settlement.

Two and a Half Men - Was a Hollywood movie. Don't base how divorce courts treat men on a movie script.

FYI, I gave up the house because I wanted my son to have at least a little stability in his life. He was young when we divorced and my main concern was how he might be affected by us splitting up. Letting her have the house meant that he kept his bedroom, his friends next door, and the backyard that he loved to play in. Otherwise, she would have moved to an apartment somewhere which would have been a major change for him.

This jibes with my experience: whenever a man loses his house in a divorce, he always lost it because he wanted his ex to have it.

Did giving her the house come before the judge granted her the lion's share of custody?

We actually have shared custody, 50/50. He spends more time with me though. He says his mom's house is too chaotic and noisy to study in, and we work out together on the weekends. He's also getting tire of her constant complaining and criticizing.

I can't tell you what a feeling of freedom it was when I moved out. It was like the first time you move out on your own, or the first time you start driving on your own.

Shortly afterwards, I ran into a guy who I hadn't seen in a while and he told me I looked younger and more relaxed, and he asked me what I did to change. I told him I got a divorce.
