"Sexualized"? Yeah no, I seriously doubt any white people thought she was appealing in any way.

People just had a fascination with how odd she looked -- like a circus sideshow or a zoo animal. Nobody wants to look like a sheboon, but sheboons are the most narcissistic people around -- especially the landwhales.

Bustles were added to a Victorian lady's wardrobe in an effort to expand the rear of the skirt to keep it from dragging. Fabrics were heavy and would flatten over a day's wearing. They grew out of favor by 1890, having been popular as a fashion item for a little less than 10 years.
