You could be right - it's forty years since I was there and I haven't looked at a map. We'd ride the 260 from Stanley and jump off a little ways before the bus terminal.
Tsim Tsa Tsui is the cheapest place for food and especially dim sum.
HK island is way too overpriced.
I don't know why my folks chose the island.
I mainly recall the constant arguments, with friends who were in TST or New Territories, over KG-V vs Island School.
They argued KG-V was worse because of the stricter rules and the uniform. We argued IS was worse because of the ridiculous tribalism of the house system.
I think KG-V finally won out because they didn't have to ban tip-ex because of kids sniffing the thinners.
