That's good, most spiders are beneficial to us and should be simply shoo'd out of harms way.
Agreed. However given that some areas of the world have a higher ratio of poisonous spiders I can understand how children having a fear of spiders might have an evolutionary benefit. But it is advantageous for adults to grow out of it and recognize spider's value.

There's still no need to be afraid of these spiders, you just need to know which ones to stay away from. It's like snakes. I'm not afraid of a rattlesnake but I'm going to stay the fuck away from them, because they're dangerous.
I don't kill spiders out of fear per say. But Brown Recluse's look very similar to other spiders and are very venomous. I prefer not to take that chance. They get the tissue. We have those here.
I've woken up with some doozies of spider bites before. Sucks. Nearly dead patches of flesh and all that.
