They do not.
What organised quarantine or containment is even being attempted at international borders outside a few random closures in the middle east and very belated action within China and Iran?
We know for a fact it's significantly worse than the reported case numbers yet there is no organised effort to curtail the spread. Why?
We have three main options as I see it:
- It's all smoke and mirrors. It's being used as a scare tactic and being blown way out of proportion. (lots of restrictions of civil liberties under the guise of "protection" - sounds a bit too "prison planet" for my tastes)
- All our various governments are incompetent and incapable of following basic pandemic protocols in a timely manner. (strong contender, I'll admit)
- Our various governments realised they fucked up with the global push to force most manufacturing into the third world & tiger economies, and, if they close the borders, their service based economies will collapse.
