To be fair, she didn't get it too when told about Lord Beetus.

What were you trying to explain if you don't mind me asking?

I work on a spinal cord injury and disease unit. This patient first said he didn’t want his nicotine patch, then asked me if nicotine lowers blood pressure. I said no it does not. He was concerned that his BP had dropped the other day. I knew what incident he was talking about.

I told him, “Because of your injury, your blood pressure can drop when you sit or stand up. This happens because there is less resistance from your muscles. The nurses that got you up should have put an abdominal binder and Ted hoes on you. They squeeze your body so your blood pressure doesn’t drop.”

Patient: “But why did it drop?”

Me: reexplain

Patient: “But da nicotine don’t make it go down?”

Me: No

Patient: “I want my oxy at 6.”

Makes no sense. As far as I know nicotine raises blood pressure.

So no oxy for you!(your patient)

Basically he was so convinced the nicotine was the culprit, he wasn’t listening and also couldn’t comprehend it even though I dumbed it down.

I’m of the opinion nicotine is never the culprit. I’ve got like 20 other it guys to back me up on this.
